If we’d skip this step, after his visit, the patient would be confronted with an invoice that he cannot pay. If he doesn’t pay this invoice on time, additional reminder costs will be charged after the payment term. That way, this unpaid invoice only gets bigger. If he is not referred to the correct financial aid services in time, the unpaid invoice will only become higher. This in turn increases the possibility that he doesn’t dare to go to the hospital for additional treatment and/or becomes ill from money stress. We want to avoid such a situation by providing support timely.

 

Additional mediation for average solvency

Also patients with an average capability to pay their invoices, who could in theory pay their hospital bill, are supported by Health Me. For example, they receive free payment reminders or are invited to discuss a payment plan. Health Me mediates between the patient and the healthcare institution to find as many payment solutions as possible in the amicable phase.
