Signification
A service is the official notification of a judicial or administrative document by a bailiff to a person concerned. Service can also be done electronically (via e-mail). This document may be a judgment, a summons, a notice of default, etc. Service ensures that the person concerned has been informed of the content of the deed and its consequences.
If you are absent when a bailiff visits, the bailiffs will leave a copy of the document in your mailbox. You will then receive an invitation, if you wish, to pick up the served document at the bailiff's office.
