Modero raises 12,875 euros for écoles libres de Pepinster after flood
Now that the first month of the new school year is over, the fundraising campaign for Écoles Libres de Pepinster is also ending. To support the reconstruction of the school, Modero's employees and network raised money. Weeks in a row, they do everything in their power and the results are amazing. Together, we provided an amount of 12,875 euro!
After the floods in July, the school had to demolish 2 of its buildings for the safety of the children. Thanks to the fundraising money, the school was already able to demolish 1 building and place container classes on another building's playground.
The school was also able to purchase new furniture, toys, didactic materials and office materials to redesign the classes. Teachers and local residents joined forces and did their utmost to make the classes as fun as possible. For the children, the new classes were supposed to be an oasis of peace, especially after this tough summer vacation.
In addition to furnishing the classes, the school was able to help children of affected families purchase new school materials. Affected children and children in need received, among other things, new satchels, pencil cases, lunch boxes and writing materials.
For the school and the students, the start of the new school year was a lot different than they are used to. Because the new container classes could not be placed before September 1, 90 students received lessons on the move in the first 2 weeks. At Domaine de Fawes in Charneux, the children learned about the climate and got to know each other better. In this way, the children were able to change their mind and escape Pepinster for a while.
But on September 16, the children had to return to reality. Although the teachers and local residents did their best, the children would love to return to a real school building from all over again. However, the school is still short of money for this. Donations can still be deposited directly into the school account number BE41 0689 4225 6310.
